Juvederm: A Flexible and Long-Lasting Dermal Filler
JUVEDERM is a great advancement in the quest for dermal fillers that are long-lasting and flexible enough to treat a variety of areas. This filler is available in two formulas at Dr. Rosen's office:
JUVEDERM is a filler derived from hyaluronic acid. The rejuvenating feature of hyaluronic acid is that it attracts and holds water. That makes JUVEDERM effective for facial wrinkles and folds. Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the human body, no allergy testing is needed before the injections are performed. The filler should maintain its look for six to nine months, based on the individual patient and how mobile each treated area is.
Dr. Rosen recommends that his patients try to avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs before or after the injection, as long as these medications are not essential to daily health. Staying away from these drugs can help decrease bruising at the site of the JUVADERM injections.

- Juvederm Ultra, a light material to be employed for mild lines or depressions and to augment lips; and
- Juvederm Ultra Plus, a more substantial material that works well for more pronounced grooves. It also restores facial fullness lost with aging, especially in the midface region.
