An eyelift, or blepharoplasty, is an eyelid surgery procedure performed to remove the extra skin and bagginess around the eyes. The signs of aging first appear around the eye and can make an individual look tired or angry. Dr. Rosen performs eyelid surgery for patients in Fairfield County, Norwalk, Westport, Weston, Darien, New Canaan, New Haven, Fairfield, Stamford, Greenwich, Bridgeport, and Westchester County.
The eyelift eyelid surgery procedure, which is typically performed in the office under twilight anesthesia, takes approximately 90 minutes.
An incision is made in a natural crease of the upper eyelid, approximately ¼ of an inch above the lash line. Excess fat and skin are removed. If the upper eyelid condition is accompanied by sagging of the eyebrows, then a browlift may be recommended.
The lower eyelids are approached through either an incision just below the lower eyelashes or the “scarless” approach from inside the eyelid. Which procedure is the correct one for you, will be discussed at the consultation.
Sutures are removed in about 4 days. Bruising normally disappears in seven to ten days following blepharoplasty eyelid surgery. The incision lines will fade over several months until they become barely visible.
Fortunately, complications are not common making this one of the more popular procedures performed by plastic surgeons. It may also make a dramatic improvement in one” appearance. It may also be done in conjunction with a browlift, chemical peel, or laser procedure to achieve an optimal result.
