Does eyelift surgery cover upper and lower eyelids?
Blepharoplasty eyelid surgery applies to surgery of both upper and lower or just one or the other depending on what the patient may require or desire. The eyelids are paired and when you look at someone you look at the whole eyelid area. Therefore they should look like they belong together for a natural look.
Who should have eyelid surgery?
Most eyelid surgery patients start to see changes in the eyelid area that are significant enough to consider surgery in the late 30’s and early 40’s. Patients who have puffiness in the upper and/or lower eyelid region with extra skin and complain of looking tired will usually benefit from this procedure.
What will I look and feel like after my eyelid surgery procedure?
This, most patients tell me, is the easiest procedure to recover from. There is minimal discomfort and the bruising should last about 7-10 days normally. No dressings are placed other than iced compresses. The hardest thing about the recovery is the boredom. We want no reading, no computers, no television, no driving. All of these activities will increase bruising and swelling.
Are my results permanent?
The short answer is no. The results are very long lasting, but typically after 10-15 years, extra skin starts to appear on the upper eyelid region, although it is typically sagging of the brow region, it may be the eyelid as well.
