Tummy Tuck Connecticut
Who is the best candidate for an abdominoplasty?
The best candidates for an abdominoplasty are patients post pregnancy or significant weight loss whether by diet and exercise or surgical bariatric weight loss procedures. Patients who have a separation of the muscles post pregnancy or an overhang post cesarean section will benefit as well. The contour of the abdomen and narrowing of the waist will be nicely improved.
When is an abdominoplasty performed?
An abdominoplasty is performed following a period of weight loss or pregnancy, allowing sufficient time for the body to perform its own natural tightening.
Can I still have children after my abdominoplasty?
You may still have children after your abdominoplasty however you will lose some of the aesthetic improvement. Ideally, all pregnancy plans should be completed prior to undergoing this cosmetic surgery procedure.
I have heard there are different types of tummy tucks.
What are they?
There are 2 main types of tummy tucks. A full and a modified (mini). A full abdominoplasty will correct contour issues and laxity both above and below the umbilicus (belly button). Whereas the mini will correct laxity and contour issues below the umbilicus only.
What can I expect after my abdominoplasty surgery?
The surgery is performed as an outpatient or with an overnight stay depending on the procedure performed and the patient desires. The surgery takes approximately 3 hours to perform and you will be placed in a surgical garment. A post op pain pump is typically placed at the time of the procedure to help with post op pain. All sutures are the self dissolving type and heal quite nicely. Time to resume activities vary from patient to patient. Allowing at least 7-10 days until resuming regular daily activities is recommended.
