Lip Lift vs Lip Augmentation
With fillers for lip augmentation only lasting so long, a procedure that has been used for a while by plastic surgeons for patients with long upper lips due to aging has now started to catch on with younger patients. The lip lift is that procedure. There are a number of different techniques used for a lip lift, but the most popular one is the “Bullhorn” lift which is performed in the office under local anesthesia, with minimal incisions placed carefully under the base of the nose and the nostrils.
After numbing the area, a small strip of skin is removed, and the lower incision is carefully elevated to close the area with inside and outside sutures. This technique achieves a gentle elevation and fullness to the lip very naturally. Minimal discomfort is present after the procedure. Swelling and bruising will occur but with icing and limitation of a lot of mouth movement and activity does not last long.
As opposed to fillers, this is a more permanent improvement to achieve nice younger fuller appearing upper lips.
